Non-Subsidized Fuel Prices Rise as Global Oil Prices Surge

Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) stated that the increase in non-subsidized fuel prices, including Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex, is in line with the sharp rise in global oil prices triggered by tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia explained that adjustments to non-subsidized fuel prices are part of a market mechanism that follows fluctuations in global crude oil prices and currency exchange rates.

“We understand that adjustments to non-subsidized fuel prices are part of a mechanism that responds to changes in world oil prices and exchange rates, making this a direct response to global market conditions,” Anggia said in Jakarta on Saturday.

He added that several neighboring countries had already implemented fuel price increases, with some recording significantly higher adjustments.

According to him, the government continues to prioritize transparency and competitive pricing to prevent market distortions. However, he stressed that subsidized fuel prices would remain unchanged.

“The most important point we want to emphasize is that the government guarantees that subsidized fuel prices, including Pertalite and subsidized diesel, will not increase,” he said.

The government has also committed to maintaining the stability of subsidized fuel prices until the end of 2026 in order to protect people’s purchasing power, especially for vulnerable groups.

Meanwhile, PT Pertamina (Persero) officially raised the prices of several non-subsidized fuel products starting Saturday (April 18). In the Jakarta area, Pertamax Turbo increased to Rp19,400 per liter from the previous Rp13,100 per liter.

Dexlite is now priced at Rp23,600 per liter, up from Rp14,200 per liter, while Pertamina Dex rose to Rp23,900 per liter from Rp14,500 per liter.

Other fuel prices remain unchanged, including Pertamax (RON 92) at Rp12,300 per liter and Pertamax Green at Rp12,900 per liter. Subsidized fuels also remain stable, with Pertalite at Rp10,000 per liter and Biosolar at Rp6,800 per liter.
